What do we do?

Whether you want to try your hand at some trad climbing, progress your bouldering or just love adventuring in the great outdoors, Loughborough Students Mountaineering Club has something to offer that will undoubtedly enhance your university experience!

Our 110 memberships are in high demand each year, with many returning members eager to pass on their skills and experiences and show our newcomers how we do Hey Ewe, LSMC style.

We welcome complete beginner climbers and adventurers every year, regardless of skill or experience.  We offer training as part of your membership, so you'll soon feel like a pro, even if you feel like you're starting from square one.  It's also worth mentioning that we don't expect you to have your own kit - we have an extensive club kit inventory that you will have full access to as one of our members - just ask our Gear Sec!

We often venture out of the Loughborough bubble to get on some real rock, letting members experience everything from sport climbing on Welsh slate, to bouldering on Peak District grit and ice up in the Cairngorms.  We like to keep our Social Sec busy, so you can also expect a year full of funkily themed socials as well!

Now for the nitty-gritty… our memberships will give you full access to our impressive gear assortment, subsidised weekend trips away to stunning British landscapes, weekly training at our local climbing haunt, subsidised training with professional instructors, membership with the British Mountaineering Council (which comes with its own host of benefits), and an exclusive annual membership discount with The Climbing Station.

If you're curious about what freshers events we have in store or day-to-day life with the club, see below for a breakdown of our weekly affairs and what exciting events our committee is planning for our 2021/22 members.
