Cayley

WELCOME TO CAYLEY!

Cayley is one of the smaller but undoubtedly the most sociable hall at Loughborough University. You will find us in the student village, the heart of the University, one of the best locations amongst some of the best people in Loughborough.

Cayley has something to offer to everyone, we participate in IMS Sports competing against other halls, RAG, where we raise money for a variety of charities, and Action projects where we give back to the communities of Loughborough. Most importantly, the social aspect of Cayley is what drives the hall spirit where we compete to win the title of Hall of The Year.

We will ensure you have the best years of your life in Cayley whilst attending one of the top Universities, providing you with a home away from home.

If you have any questions about Cayley hall, please get in touch with our 2021/22 Hall Chair, Rachael Alvey.

We look forward to meeting you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What size are the beds?

Check your accommodation contract on the website or email confirmation you received. If it says 4ft bed then it’s a small double, if it doesn’t say anything it’s a single bed.

How do I know if I’m in new or old blocks?

All new blocks beds are 4ft and all old blocks are single. If on your accommodation contract it says 4ft beds then you’re in new blocks, if not then you’re in old blocks.

When do we find out our rooms/flats?

You won’t be sent your room numbers until a few days before move-in. When you receive them, they will be in the format block – floor, flat – room for new blocks (e.g. 16-21-07 would be block 16, floor 2, flat 1, room 7) and block – floor – room for old blocks (e.g. 14-2-10 would be block 14, floor 2, room 10).

Where can I collect mail from?

Any parcels you have ordered can be picked up from the Herbert Manzoni building about a 5-minute walk from Cayley. You will receive an email when you have parcels ready to collect from there. Any letters received can be picked up from the pigeonholes in the reception in the Hub (where the committee will be situated for move-in day). When giving your address for delivery to the uni you should put it in this format:

Name and F-number

Cayley Hall

Loughborough University

Loughborough

LE11 3TX

Can we park on campus?

There is no parking on campus except for those with permits. Permits aren’t available for freshers unless under specific circumstances e.g. disability or issues at home that may require you to rush back at any time (these are only available for a few weeks at a time). All permit information is available at https://permit.lboro.ac.uk/mainportal/login .

What are Hall Subs?

A few weeks before you come to university, your Hall Committee will ask you to buy Hall Subs. Money from accommodation fees goes straight to the Accommodation Centre. Hall subs is an extra cost that goes to Hall Committees to help them pay for your social, sport and other events. It is an optional cost which allows you to take part in all the social events provided by the hall, gives you subsidised ball tickets, allows you to take part in intra-mural (inter-hall) sports, allows you to take part in action and RAG events, allows you to run for your hall committee and allows you to vote in hall elections. Without Hall Subs you won’t be able to take part in any freshers events or receive a freshers pack or any of the discounts so we really recommend buying hall subs through the LSU website!
