Education Executive Officer 2021-22 - Update

During Loughborough Students’ Union (LSU) recent By-Election for the role of Education Executive Officer (held between the 27th of August - Friday 17th September 2021), candidate, Lizzy Watts, rescinded candidacy for the position (prior to the completion of the voting period) due to personal circumstances.

Following the announcement and a number of discussions, the LSU Executive Team has made the decision to jointly undertake the role of Education Executive Officer for the remainder of the 2021-22 academic year – with no further By-Elections for the position being held. The 2021-22 Executive Team, with support from permanent staff (from within both LSU and Loughborough University) will assume joint responsibility for the academic representation of our students. Whilst we are aware that the current circumstances are less than ideal, we will continually endeavor to ensure that both students and Doctoral Researchers alike are consulted throughout the year and continue to have opportunities to be involved (at all levels) to ensure their academic experience remains at the forefront of our work.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances currently presented, the Education Executive Officer position will return as an individual member of the Executive Team within the 2021-22 Executive Elections, due to be held early in 2022.
