Why dance Salsa?
- Improves your physical health and fitness
- Improves balance, coordination, posture and movement memory
- Combats stress and boosts self-confidence
- Widens your social circle and makes you part of a big family
- Salsa is a global movement, it is danced socially in clubs all over the world
In terms of dance style, we are doing Salsa LA (Los Angeles or Cross Body or On1) and we are focusing on footwork, turn patterns, partner work, styling and musicality, various combinations of moves, all these in order to create your own dance style and have the confidence to dance on any salsa floor in this world.
In addition, we also introduce dancing styles such as Bachata, Rueda de Casino, Kizomba, Tango and others!
Did you know? Two years ago, in 2018, the LSU Salsa Society won the Loughborough University awards for the best performance and art and most outstanding event.
Help us continue building this great community of salseros and salseras that grows bigger and better every year.
So, if you want to get taste of salsa and want to do something new and exciting, come give it a try!
The more you learn the better it gets and you will not be disappointed.
See you on the dance floor!
The taster sessions are for free and all about getting a taste of what salsa is all about. This year there will be three tester sessions in the form of basic lessons!
Monday 30th September, Room 1, Students' Union Building from 7PM until 10PM
Monday 7th October, Room 1, Students' Union Building from 7PM until 10PM
Monday 14th October, Room 1, Students' Union Building from 7PM until 10PM
If you cannot manage to attend any of the free sessions, you can still come to one of our regular sessions later, to get an insight into our fun activities for free. You will get to know the committee and meet a lot of interesting salseros and salseras, while learning individual steps and partner work.
