The Hiking club is a great way to meet new people, visit new places and have a laugh! We organise day and weekend trips throughout the year - with day trips predominatly to The Peak District, and weekend trips to areas like The Lake Disctict, Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales etc with a longer trip to Scotland usually taking place over the Easter break.
From the back of beyond to the bar, the club organises socials such as trips to Alton Towers, go-karting, paintballing, BBQ's and nights out at the Union. We also hold a weekly "Pub Club", which is informal social gathering in a different pub every week.
Membership is open to all members of Loughborugh Students Union. Our members include hikers, walkers and scramblers. You don't have to be an experienced mountaineer or hill-walker; there are walks for people of all abilities and confidences.
Here is how you become a member:
1) Please read the club Code of Conduct carefully. This is important, and sets out what is required of you as a member - as well as the club's responsibilities.
2) Pay your membership fees online (£25 for the year - with a free t-shirt), using the box at the bottom of this page. If you haven't joined any other society yet, you will also have to make a one-off payment of £5 for union insurance.
3) Please register on the Hiking club's website to join our email list and to allow us to book you onto events.
4) Come along to our termly Booking Evenings and pay for any trips you want to come onto. If you're unable to make it to the booking evening, you are welcome to pay for events at our weekly committee meetings, which usually take place on Monday evenings in the library.
5) Come join us on a hike!
