The LSU Shakespeare Society is a society that has bettered itself year on year and aims to cater for everyone no matter what your interests are. We are a very friendly society and make all our members feel welcome.

We are a theatre society devoted to the works of William Shakespeare, and we put on high-standard productions of his works. Productions we've done in the past include The Tempest, As You Like It, The Winter's Tale, Henry IV Part 1, Much Ado About Nothing, Titus Andronicus, Cymbeline, Hamlet, The Enchanted Island, Timon Of Athens, Twelfth Night, The Comedy of Errors Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant Of Venice, Julius Caesar and Queen Lear. We aim to find a role for every person who auditions for a production. We take everyone of all levels of experience, so please do come along and have fun. Find our Facebook page @lsushakespeare to find out about auditions.

We put on two to three productions every year. If you want to see info from some of our earlier productions, click the productions tab at the top of the page.

For 2019/20, we will be putting on two great productions of:

  • Macbeth (Directed by Ella Brewster & Jack Smith) (performing in TBC 2019)
  • A Midsummer Night's Dream (Directed by Rosie Brace, Eve Newton & Caspar Wort) (performing in TBC 2020)

And the involvement doesn't just end at acting. We need directors, set designers, set builders, costume makers, backstage crew and technicians to put on the best performance we possibly can. So be sure to get involved where you can!

We are also known for the many socials, which include our annual Christmas and Summer balls, film nights, nights out in the union and in town, going to see other productions (e.g. the Globe, and the RSC), and many others. We also make our rehearsals quite sociable, too.
