The MUA is a student-led association representing student’s aged over 21 years when starting their undergraduate course at Loughborough University.
Studying for an undergraduate degree as a mature student can be a daunting experience and can inflict significant changes to your life. Undergraduate mature students constitute a diverse group of individuals with varied life experiences and skills, and therefore can often require a slightly different university support network, along with the ability to attend a variety of different social activities separate to what the university and union already provides. There is no membership fee to be a part of the MUA, so it is up to you how much you engage with the MUA.
The MUA is here to help you obtain the most out of your university experience. This may be through having the ability to become more immersed within the other Welfare & Diversity associations and networks, as well as sections within LSU such as Action, Rag and Societies. There will be sporting opportunities to become involved with and educational workshops will be held for students who require support transitioning back into studying after experiencing a break from education. Building friendships is one of the most paramount aims of the MUA, achieved through hosting various social events throughout the year to suit a variety of interests and levels of engagement with the association. Whether you want to meet up with students in a similar position to you or need advice on university life, we are here to listen and point you in the right direction for support services where needed.
Please note, children are welcome at any daytime social or event, and partners are also very welcome to attend evening socials.
Feel free to contact Matt Youngs, Welfare & Diversity Executive Officer, with any queries or suggestions for upcoming socials, and keep up to date with the MUA via the following links...
