The MSA is a student-led association representing undergraduate students aged over 21 and postgraduate students over the age of 25 years when starting their courses here at Loughborough University.
Studying for a degree as a mature student can be a daunting experience and a massive learning curve. Mature students joining the university are a diverse group of individuals with varied life experiences and skills. This often results in a slightly different university experience, which can be helped with something as simple as a university support network such as the MSA.
The MSA aims to connect mature students, regardless of what year of study they are in, and to help ensure that everyone can integrate into their University experience quickly! We help enhance their learning and social experiences and overall satisfaction with life at the University while making new friends along the way. As our demographic is a particularly under-represented one at the University, we are your key contact and representative in all things Loughborough.
We provide a very supportive environment, where you will always find other mature students studying similar courses and who may have similar life circumstances and experiences. So, whether you’re looking for new friends, study partners, or simply the reassurance of knowing you're not the only mature student at the University, all can be found here!
The MSA is here to help you get the most out of your University experience. This may be through having the ability to become more immersed within the other Welfare & Diversity associations and Networks, as well as sections within LSU such as Action, Rag, Societies, Enterprise and even, help assimilate to hall living. There will be sporting opportunities to become involved with and educational workshops will be held for students who require support transitioning back into studying after experiencing a break from education.
Please please remember that we welcome children at any daytime events or socials and partners are also very welcome to attend evening socials as we understand that some of your personal lives may be intertwined with your University life.
Do I have to pay for membership?
No, there is no membership fee to be a part of the association, so it is up to you how much you engage with us.
